The Grazer Kunstverein is one of nine Graz-based constituents involved in Open Modes, a network of institutions and initiatives concerned with the changing requirements for educating artists in the absence of a dedicated Art Academy in Graz, and in the wake of a continuing discussion of the deteriorating conditions for ‘Bildung’ in general. As part of a reflective practice of producing art, this experimental platform allows for self-determined production of knowledge and its permutation into common resources.

Open Modes is an on going project by: Akademie Graz, Camera Austria, esc medien kunst labor, Forum Stadtpark, Grazer Kunstverein, Institut für zeitgenössische Kunst/TU Graz, Künstlerhaus. Halle für Kunst und Medien, < rotor >, Schaumbad – Freies Atelierhaus Graz.
